Former neighbors of Ivan Lopez, the soldier accused of Wednesday’s mass shooting at Ft. Hood, mentioned he and his family members appeared standard but were quiet and kept to themselves.
Till just weeks in the past Lopez and a lady and younger woman lived in an apartment complex off Gateway Blvd. in El Paso, Tex. , although Lopez was stationed at the Army’s Ft. Bliss.
Noah Georges, a nursing pupil who lived across the hall from Lopez, stated he would say hello to Lopez as they passed each and every other in the corridor among apartment blocks. The girl and the woman, whom he took to be Lopez’s wife and daughter, hardly ever left the apartment, he stated.
“They looked like they had been a fairly pleased household,” said Georges. “We had been neighbors so when I saw him across the way I said, ‘Oh hi, neighbor.’ That was it.”
“He appeared to be a good guy,” said Georges. “I in no way saw any indication that he had any difficulties or him and his wife were having any concerns. They looked pretty standard to me.”
Georges explained that the household never appeared to have visits from buddies or any other type of organization. He took the lady to be a homemaker and mentioned the woman appeared to be 2 or 3 many years outdated.
When they moved a number of weeks in the past and relocated to Killeen, Tex., in which Lopez was stationed at Ft. Hood, they did so without attracting any attention.
Georges mentioned, “I did not see when they moved in and I did not see when they left. I came back a single day and they had been gone.”
Georges’ mother-in-law, Virginia Grenke, who also described Lopez as somebody who stored to himself, moved into Lopez’s apartment after he left. She is nonetheless acquiring mail for Lopez. She said there was nothing at all strange about the apartment when she moved in.
Georges stated his heart goes out to victims of the shooting. “My deepest condolences to the victims and the households and specially his household,” stated Georges. “We all have demons we have to deal with. His demons were just too fantastic, I guess.”
